Bryant Group Selected for Vice Chancellor for Advancement Search for the University of Washington Tacoma

Dallas-based executive search and talent development firm Bryant Group has been selected to recruit the next vice chancellor for advancement for the University of Washington Tacoma. Sarah Hempen, vice president of search, is spearheading the assignment for the search firm.

The vice chancellor for advancement will be responsible for the oversight and implementation of all advancement activities on the UW Tacoma campus including marketing & communications, major gifts and advancement services.

“I look forward to recruiting a visionary leader to build and guide our philanthropic efforts, working closely together to represent University of Washington Tacoma in the community,” said Dr. Sheila Edwards Lange, chancellor at University of Washington Tacoma. “We are looking for a strategic visionary who has the experience and skills to expand our philanthropic efforts and guide our advancement team in an integrated advancement model,” said Ali Modarres, Ph.D., search committee chair, assistant chancellor for community partnerships, and dean of urban studies.

Reporting jointly to the chancellor of UW Tacoma and the UW vice president for development, the vice chancellor is an integral member of the chancellor’s executive leadership team. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external constituents in the community, have a proven track record of effective team leadership, campaign planning and major gift fundraising. The vice chancellor will inspire a talented and accomplished team to successfully grow a comprehensive fundraising program.

  • Proven ability to create, guide and lead vision.
  • Exhibited ability to effectively create a fundraising strategic plan and operation.
  • Proven success in asking for and closing major gifts and building and maintaining long-term relationships with major donors, foundations and corporations.

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of professionals.
