Dallas-based executive search and leadership consulting firm Bryant Group conducted a nationwide search resulting in Amanda Walker, PhD securing the role as Vice Chancellor of Advancement at University of Washington Tacoma.
“As a proud Washingtonian with a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of higher education, I am honored to join Chancellor Lange and the entire University of Washington Tacoma community to build a bright and promising future for students and the region,” said Walker.
An experienced leader with over two decades of extensive fundraising and strategic team leadership experience, Walker brings a wealth of knowledge to the position. She most recently served as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Purchase College in the SUNY system and Executive Director of the Purchase College Foundation and Charitable Entities. Prior to that, Walker served as the Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA Pierce County and the Vice President for Advancement at The Evergreen State College.
“We were impressed by Amanda’s strong reputation as an exceptional leader and fundraiser,” said Dr. Sheila Edwards Lange, UW Tacoma chancellor. “This expertise, combined with her deep ties to the Tacoma community, will help us expand the profound positive impact UW Tacoma has on the South Sound community.”
In her new position, Walker will work jointly with Lange, as an integral member of the UW Tacoma Chancellor’s Executive Leadership Team and with the UW Vice President for Development.
University of Washington Tacoma, established in 1990, is one of three campuses that comprise UW. Located in the historic warehouse district, UW Tacoma has played a vital role in revitalizing and transforming downtown Tacoma. As an urban-serving institution, UW Tacoma targets a regional population who otherwise would not have access to public higher education, resulting in an incredibly diverse, typically non-traditional student population.
