JDG Associates Taps CEO for the Institute of Transportation Engineers

August 14, 2015 – Search firm JDG Associates Ltd. has placed Jeffrey Paniati as executive director and chief executive officer of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).

Mr. Paniati will remain in his current position with the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) as executive director, office of the administrator, until mid-October, after which time he will join ITE headquarters staff in Washington, D.C. He will succeed current ITE executive director and CEO, Thomas W. Brahms, who will soon retire after 43 years of service to the Institute.

Since 2008, Mr. Paniati has served as FHWA’s executive director, the highest career position within the organization, where he spent the past 32 years. There, he was responsible for 2,900 employees in 65 offices nationwide and oversaw an annual operating budget of $400 million. He represents the U.S. as the first delegate to the World Road Association, where he serves as chair of the strategic planning commission that guides the Association’s technical programs and strategic planning.

ITE is an international educational and scientific association of transportation professionals who are responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs. The organization facilitates the application of technology and scientific principles to research, planning, functional design, implementation, operation, policy development and management for any mode of ground transportation.
