AGB Search to Recruit Widener University President

August 17, 2015 – Executive search firm AGB Search Inc. has been selected by Widener University to lead the search for its 10th president. The next president will succeed Dr. James T. Harris, who has led the University for the past 13 years.

Dr. Stephen C. Wilhite, Widener’s provost, is serving as interim president through 2016. Consultants Dr. Thomas B. Courtice, Dr. Roberto Ifill and Dr. Jamie Ferrare are heading the assignment on behalf of AGB Search. The primary task for the incoming president will be to build upon the progress made in the past decade and to fulfill Widener’s goal to be the preeminent metropolitan university committed to providing an academic environment centered on student transformation and success, being a national model for civic engagement, fostering a culture of leadership to inspire students, faculty and staff, and sustaining a diverse university community that champions a culture of respect, civility and inclusivity.

Widener University, over its 195 year history, has grown into a four-campus academic institution offering more than 150 programs of study. The university’s campuses in Chester, Exton, and Harrisburg, PA and Wilmington, DE serve 6,000 students.

AGB Search, which focuses exclusively on higher education leadership, conducts executive searches for college and university presidents, chancellors, provosts, vice presidents, deans, university system heads, and CEOs of coordinating boards and related foundations. The firm is currently heading president searches for The College of Wooster, Emporia State University, Dickenson State University and Marshall University.
