WinterWyman Executive Search Places the CFO at Great Elm Capital

NEW YORK, March 27, 2017 — WinterWyman Executive Search has placed John Woods, CPA as Chief Financial Officer at Great Elm Capital Management (GECM). WinterWyman Executive Search’s Senior Vice President and Partner Jonathan Mazzocchi and Managing Director and Partner Ian Ide led the search.

As GECM’s CFO, Woods will own the corporate reporting function of GECM as well as manage all treasury functions, oversee tax assets, have direct managerial responsibility over the CFOs/Controllers of GECM’s managed investment products, report financials of the asset vehicles managed by GECM and be indirectly responsible for GECM’s middle office (trade settlement, compliance, attribution reporting, etc.) and financial planning and analysis.

Before joining GECM, Woods was the Corporate Controller & Treasurer for Providence Equity Partners where he previously served in Chief Financial Officer and Controller roles with their Capital Markets’ business. Previously, he was Director of Finance & Accounting / Assistant Corporate Controller with NewStar Financial, Inc. (NASDAQ – NEWS) and a Senior Audit Associate at Deloitte. He also served as Assistant Vice President – Corporate Finance and Assistant Vice President – Fund Administration for Evergreen / Wells Fargo Investment Management. Woods received his MBA from Suffolk University in Boston.
