The Loring Group assists Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. in the Recruitment of the new Leader of Retail Technology

San Francisco-based executive search firm The Loring Group has placed Maureen DeMott as the new Leader of Global Retail Technology at Specialized Bicycle Components. Specialized has designed and manufactured the world’s most innovative bikes and gear since 1974. The search was led by Steve Caliger, Managing Partner at The Loring Group, and supported by their in-house Research and Operations team.

“Gender diversity was a key consideration for this search and a great challenge, as women in Information Technology leadership positions make up less than 10% of the talent pool,” said Caliger. “Our research and operations team screened more than 2,000 candidates across the U.S. and delivered a diverse candidate slate in less than six weeks, providing Specialized with several great choices for this role.”

Reporting to CIO Peter Jazowick (also placed by Caliger), the Leader of Global Retail Technology will create and execute a roadmap for best-in-class Retail Technology “inside the four walls” for hundreds of new and existing retail stores throughout North America and Europe. This organization will partner with Specialized business stakeholders to create a brand experience for customers and retail workers that will be second to none and continue to build on the iconic Specialized brand. Maureen joins Specialized with 17+ years of related I.T. leadership experience for major Consumer Products brands and retailers like Papa Murphy’s, Under Armor, and The Vitamin Shoppe.

Specialized is a leading innovator in the bicycle industry, consistently striving to create new and better bicycle technologies. In 1981, Specialized revolutionized the biking industry by introducing mountain bikes to the general public. They were founded with the mission to inspire riders everywhere. With that comes a commitment to building quality bikes and equipment, minimizing the environmental footprint in their creation, and establishing an effective path for re-use and recycling of everything created.

TLG was founded in 2019 by former Stanton Chase partner Steve Caliger.  Steve previously led the North America Technology practice for Stanton Chase, a global Top 10 firm, and was the Global Sector Leader for Digital Transformation. He has 20+ years of executive search and consulting experience. Before executive search, Steve was a Sales Leader for Fortune 500 and startup Technology companies. He is also a Digital Thought Leader, as Founder and former President of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of SIM (Society for Information Management), the largest CIO membership organization in the U.S., with over 5,000 members.
