Charlie provides physician executive search consulting services to the healthcare industry. His client focus includes hospitals, Integrated Delivery Systems, as well as single specialty and multi-specialty clinics. Dr. Jacobson began his career as a physician executive more than 25 years ago.
He led the development of the managed care processes for one of the major clinics and HMOs in Minnesota. He proceeded on to lead the largest multi-specialty group practice, Park Nicollet Medical Center, in the Twin Cities, made up of 370 physicians and 18 outpatient care facilities. In 1993, he was recognized as one of the top 100 leaders in Minnesota healthcare. Dr. Jacobson moved on to a national role with Premier Inc., a coalition of 1800 community hospitals.
There he coordinated twice annual meetings for physician executives across the nation focusing on how to improve the physician executive’s management and leadership skills. While at Premier he also led strategic healthcare consulting, clinical and operational process improvement consulting, the patient safety initiative, comparative data analysis and developed the physician involvement in product contracting.
During these 25 years, Dr. Jacobson took management training through Susquehanna University along with spending 15 years studying the characteristics of effective leadership through the Masters in Leadership Forum at the Humphrey Institute. In addition, he stayed connected to medical education, teaching residents and fellows Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Minnesota Medical School for 20 years.
