Pearl Street is pleased to share the appointment of Cheryl Katon as President & Chief Executive Officer of Emancipet, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making veterinary care affordable and accessible for all pet owners.
Cheryl Katon is a proven leader who has employed strategic vision, creativity, and innovation throughout her more than thirty-year career in nonprofit management, positioning her as an exceptional choice to lead Emancipet into its next phase of impact and growth. Cheryl’s career has been defined by her dedication to fostering inclusive communities. Most recently, Cheryl served as Vice President of Resource Development and Donor Engagement at Fenway Health in Boston, where her deep commitment to equity helped expand access to essential services across diverse communities. At Fenway Health, and in her long tenure with the Boy Scouts of America, where she most recently served as Executive Director in Greater Boston, she spearheaded initiatives to make programs accessible and welcoming for people from all backgrounds and identities. Cheryl’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion extends to her lifelong work as a volunteer as well. She serves as Chair for Pride in our Workplace, is a member of the Boston Foundation, Equality Fund Committee, and served as the Chair of TCNE, which conducts the second largest conference for trans people in the United States. She’s also held many leadership roles in her Unitarian Universalist church. Cheryl is widely recognized for growing these organizations to become more sustainable, diverse and visible.
Cheryl’s background in nonprofit leadership paired with her fundraising and public health experience will help further Emancipet’s mission to ensure every pet receives the care they deserve. She will officially step into her new role on November 15, 2024, assuming leadership of the organization after a period of unprecedented growth and innovation. Cheryl will build upon decades of success and a strong foundation that was created in partnership with the community by longstanding President & CEO Amy Mills, who earlier this year announced an intentional transition.
