New Executive Director Takes the Lead At Providence House

NEW YORK, NY, September 11, 2017—After a six-month executive search, the Board of Directors of Providence House, a non-profit with nearly 40 years serving women and children in New York, has appointed Danielle Minelli Pagnotta, LMSW, to the role of Executive Director effective today.

Ms. Pagnotta joins Providence House following 12 years with the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS), most recently as Deputy Commissioner of Street Homeless Solutions. While at DHS she led a 85-member team to create and implement the Safe Haven housing model; increase transitional housing capacity by more than 1,200 units; and operate the street homeless program continuum of more than 25 City-wide, performance-based programs.

“Given her skills and drive, Danielle could succeed at any number of organizations,” said Janet D’Addario, President of the Board of Directors. “But her collaborative leadership style and genuine, heartfelt commitment to the vulnerable groups we serve persuaded us she’s particularly suited to Providence House.”

“I’m looking forward to working together with the board, staff, partner agencies, and especially the families themselves at Providence House,” said Ms. Pagnotta. “There are many pressing issues, from the ongoing challenge of homelessness to the need for prison re-entry services and positive alternatives to detention. I know that we can continue responding with effective and compassionate solutions to these urgent needs.”

Providence House’s previous Executive Director, Sister Janet Kinney, CSJ, worked closely with the board and DRG throughout the search process. Sister Kinney served in the director’s role since 1998, leading the organization’s expansion into permanent supportive housing and other areas of service.
