WASHINGTON, D.C., February 12, 2018 – Following a national search conducted by the Sterling Martin Associates team, the Mortgage Bankers Association Opens Doors Foundation (ODF) has appointed Deborah E. Dubois as its President.
Dubois has over 25 years of experience in nonprofit management, including her most recent position as Chief Development Officer at the Center for Public Integrity (CPI), an investigative news organization that gives voice to the public and sparks change by going behind closed doors to reveal abuses of power in Washington. There, she was responsible for all fundraising activities focused on individual and foundation giving, and she supervised a team of three, including the Development Operations Manager, the Director of Annual Gifts and the Director of Foundations.
Dubois earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Cornell University, and she also earned an MBA in Marketing and Organizational Development from The George Washington University. She has worked with such well-known organizations as the Atlantic Council of the United States, World Learning, Blackboard, Inc., GW Solutions (a project of GWU), and CMG Partners where she served as a Senior Consultant.
Dubois was recruited from CMG to serve as Director of Marketing & Communications and then Vice President, with the National Legal Aid and Defender Association (NLADA), a mission-driven organization focused on advocating for access to legal assistance for poor people. She was subsequently recruited by Justice at Stake as Deputy Executive Director for Development where she served successfully for three years before being recruited to the Center for Public Integrity.
In her new role at ODF, Dubois will serve as the chief executive of the Foundation, setting fundraising priorities, identifying opportunities for partnerships, and devising strategies to secure substantial funding to meet ODF’s strategic goals. She will also provide innovative leadership and the strategic vision necessary to continue building a comprehensive and robust program.
