McDermott & Bull Places Chief Executive Officer at NUAIR Alliance

IRVINE, California, February 14, 2017 – McDermott & Bull is pleased to announce the successful appointment of Marke “Hoot” Gibson as Chief Executive Officer with NUAIR Alliance, a not-for-profit coalition of more than 100 private and public entities and academic institutions working together to operate and oversee the UAS test facility based at Griffiss Airbase in Rome, NY, while helping to build a robust business cluster in the region.

This executive recruiting engagement was conducted by Craig Sabina, Principal Consultant; Rod McDermott, CEO and Co-Founder; Jared Moriarty, Principal Consultant; and Amanda Lange, Recruiting Associate at McDermott & Bull.  According to Sabina, “The NUAIR Alliance Board set a high bar for the effort, consistent with the lofty objectives for the Alliance and the scale of the commitment by the State of New York to support the endeavor in the years to come.  A respected former military officer and senior advisor to the FAA on Unmanned Aircraft Integration efforts, Marke is well known in the industry.  We are all excited to see what the Alliance achieves under his leadership.”

The son of a WWII bomber pilot, Gibson graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and served almost thirty years in roles ranging from Fighter Pilot to Secretary of Defense Liaison.  After Gibson’s retirement in 2011, he started a consulting business before being tapped for the role of Executive Director of the FAA’s NextGen Institute.  Prior to joining NUAIR Alliance, he served as Senior Advisor on UAS Integration at the FAA.

Gibson received his degree in Economics & Management from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a Master of National Security Strategy from the National War College, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
