Mary Lue Peck Selected as Chief Executive Officer of the National Speakers Association

WASHINGTON, DC, December 11, 2017 – Following a national search conducted by Sterling Martin Associates, the National Speakers Association (Tempe, AZ) has selected Mary Lue Peck as Chief Executive Officer. Mary Lue will assume her new role in early January.

Mary Lue comes to NSA from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), also based in Tempe. ISM is an international association with 50,000 members in 90 countries. Mary Lue has served as ISM’s Chief Content and Engagement Officer for 12 and a half years and is in charge of specialty conferences, publications, online learning, new product offerings, marketing, CMS, and membership growth.

When she arrived at ISM, Mary Lue was initially charged with leading and moving the organization into the future. Under Mary Lue’s leadership, ISM turned around budget deficits, transformed the organization’s culture, upgraded technology, increased event attendance, sponsorships and membership, and improved their financial status by millions.

NSA is the leading organization for professional speakers. NSA’s 53,000+ members include experts in a variety of industries and disciplines, who reach audiences as trainers, educators, humorists, motivators, consultants, authors, and more. Since 1973, NSA has provided resources and education designed to advance the skills, integrity, and value of its members and the speaking profession.

As CEO, Mary Lue will provide bold leadership to take NSA to its next level. She will direct and participate in growth activities to support NSA’s overall business objectives and plans; develop and direct the execution of policies to support NSA in general and accomplish the organization’s strategic objectives; and lead the organization in developing strategies and tactics to achieve NSA’s mission.

Mary Lue earned a BS in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix, and she has an MBA with a concentration in Management from Western International University.

Nonprofit Specialists

David Martin, the firm’s managing partner, has three decades of professional experience in national executive search, nonprofit leadership and with Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Prominent non-profit clients have included AARP, American Association for the Advancement of Science, National Association of Broadcasters, National Association of Children’s Hospitals, Society for Human Resource Management, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Sister Cities International. He has conducted searches for a broad range of executive leadership positions at the C-suite level, including president and CEO roles, executive directors and chief operating officers.
