Kathy Dettloff Named Vice President, Financial Planning and Budgeting at Rutgers

BOSTON, MA, January 17, 2017 — Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, has appointed Kathy L. Dettloff as its new Vice President, Financial Planning and Budgeting.

Effective January 17, Detloff leads the Office of Budget and Resources Studies (OBRS) and is responsible for areas including financial planning and business plan development, and the analysis and in-depth management of budget issues.

“Dettloff’s experience working in large and complex research universities with academic and healthcare components is very much in line with the needs of Rutgers University,” said J. Michael Gower, Rutgers’ Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration and University Treasurer.

Prior to joining Rutgers, Dettloff was the Chief Budget Officer at the University of Delaware, serving as a key advisor to the president and on the leadership teams of both the provost and the executive vice president. She was responsible for implementing the Responsibility Center Management budget process, and developed an improved RCM model to better support the university’s operations.

Previously, Dettloff held positions of increasing responsibility at Johns Hopkins University. Between 2004 and 2013, she was the university’s Budget Officer, serving as an advisor to the vice president of budget and strategic planning on matters related to the operating and capital budgets. She coordinated the university’s $4 billion budget and five-year plan, produced the five-year capital plan, and created and maintained the university’s $114 million administration budget.

Detloff is a Rutgers alumna; she graduated from the university’s School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
