HealthSearch Partners Recruits Maury Regional Health CEO

(Jan. 19, 2022) HealthSearch Partners recently placed the CEO for a three-hospital health system located in Columbia, Tennessee, south of Nashville. Maury Regional Health announced that Davin Turner, DO accepted the CEO role just after a nationwide search that began in September.

Dr. Turner joins Maury Regional Health after serving as Medical Center President and Chief Medical Officer for Mosaic Life Care, a northwest Missouri physician- led health system with 60 hospital and area clinics anchored by a 352-bed tertiary care hospital. There he led the recent development of a $1.2 Billion satellite medical school with the University of Kansas. He also negotiated to have Mosaic become the only health system in Missouri that is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

It is anticipated that Dr. Turner will soon begin his duties with MRH, where he will lead the organization as it continues to expand and thrive in one of the fastest growing regions in the country. The flagship hospital Maury Medical Center has demonstrated its commitment to quality by achieving Magnet® designation in 2020, and by integrating the Baldrige framework to improve quality and operations. In fact, prior to the Pandemic, the organization was selected to receive a site visit for consideration for the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s highest Presidential honor for performance excellence through innovation, improvement and visionary leadership.

This successful executive search project was managed by a senior HSP principal and Co-Founder Barry Cesafsky with the assistance of HSP Chief Operating Officer Laura Conley. Together they worked closely with the eight-member Maury Board of Trustees, who operated as a search committee.

Despite the formidable challenge due to the coronavirus pandemic, the HSP consultants met mask-to-mask with the search committee to begin the project soon after Labor Day. Travel restrictions and the need for social distancing hampered much of the usual ability to meet and gather freely. Many meetings and interviews were conducted by telephone or via Zoom. In some ways, the use of Zoom meetings helped expedite aspects of the search. “I believe the search we did was faster and more efficient because it was easier to find calendar time for a quick hourlong Zoom meeting here or there, while a face-to-face gathering would have taken a half a day or more, including travel.” Cesafsky commented. The Board search committee reached unanimous consensus and offered the CEO position to Dr. Turner just before Christmas. He accepted and will begin his new role on March 1.
