Harvard Group International Attracts New CEO for Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey (CA) County

ATLANTA, GA, July 12, 2016 — Harvard Group International, a mid-size full service retained executive search firm, has successfully completed a search project for a new CEO for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Monterey County (BGCMC).

  • Dr. Michael L. Jackson placed as new CEO for organization
  • Dr. Jackson brings 35 years of experience as a teacher and administrator at Stanford University and University of Southern California
  • He replaces Donna Ferraro who served as CEO of organization for 25 years

He Donna Ferraro who has led the non-profit organization since 1991. Dr. Jackson brings Cyndi Court, a Managing Director with Harvard Group International’s Non-Profit Practice, led the search project to attract the new CEO for BGCMC.

Dr. Jackson holds a BA in Anthropology, with distinction, from Stanford University and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His career includes 35-years as a teacher and administrator at Stanford University and the University of Southern California (USC). At Stanford University Jackson held the position of Dean of Students before leaving to become Vice President for Student Affairs and Professor of Higher Education at USC. Throughout his career Dr. Jackson has received numerous awards for his service.

During his tenure at USC Dr. Jackson led a staff of 300 employees and 400 students; his department had an annual operating budget of over $30,000,000. He also led a number of fund raising drives to improve the quality of life for students at USC. Dr. Jackson was selected a slate of qualified candidates presented by Harvard Group International. “I am very pleased to be passing the baton to Michael. For Dr. Jackson, coming back to the Monterey Peninsula brings him full circle. When he was in the 9th grade in public school in San Jose he was awarded a scholarship to become the first African American student to attend Stevenson School in Pebble Beach where he graduated with honors. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Stevenson School. Dr. Jackson says, “I am returning home where my life was changed for the better and I want to do the same for other boys and girls in Monterey County. I am excited to give back to an organization that gave me so much. I am committed to building upon the foundation that Donna has built and expand the platform on which Monterey County youth can build great futures.”
