Harvard Group Completes Search for the Chief Development Officer of ASAS

MARIETTA, GA, March 30, 2017 — After-School All-Stars (ASAS) has hired Mandy Nelson as their first ever Chief Development Officer. Mandy is a seasoned non-profit development professional with more than 20 years’ experience leading campaigns, programs, and people. She is a key participant in the rapid growth and evolution of five respected non-profit organizations. Most recently, Mandy served for seven years as the Associate Vice President for Development in the Pacific division of the American Red Cross, responsible for raising $70 million annually; prior to that, Mandy was at the Women’s Foundation of California, and the Liberty Hill Foundation. Throughout her career, she has created and implemented fundraising programs, increasing annual support by as much as 30-fold. In addition to that, she is an experienced manager of development teams, including coaching 10 CDOs at the Red Cross.

Managing Director and Non-Profit Practice Leader, Cyndi Court and her team at Harvard Group International was retained for the search. They researched and reviewed over 1700 potential candidates, narrowing down to a list of 110 top candidates to go through the Harvard Group’s vetting process. The ASAS senior leadership team interviewed 10 candidates, passing two finalists along to be interviewed by the ASAS search committee.
