Evanston, IL, July 11, 2019 – Ferrero has retained Hanold Associates for their Vice President, Human Resources International search based in Luxembourg. Neela Seenandan, Sonia Nagra and Sandra Peña will lead the search.
Still owned by the same family that started the organization more than 70 years ago, Ferrero’s roots date back to the 1940s when the Ferrero family transitioned their pastry shop into a factory, manufacturing several new and innovative products developed by Pietro and Michele Ferrero. The company was the first to develop an international presence by opening production and office sites in other countries and establishing an effective sales network. Over the years, Ferrero leveraged these strengths as well as the addition of many new products to transition from a small confectionary company into a global icon.
Its products are sold in more than 170 countries worldwide and include recognizable brands like Ferrero Rocher®, Tic Tac®, Kinder®, Nutella®, Butterfinger® and Crunch®. The company’s brands combine high quality, care and innovation to win hearts and spread emotions.
Over the past five years, Ferrero has made a significant number of acquisitions. The company has acquired Oltan in Turkey, Thorntons in the UK, Fannie May and Nestle’s confectionery business in the US and recently has announced the acquisition of the Biscuit business unit of Kellogg. The extended ‘eco-system’ includes Delacre, a biscuit company based in Belgium, and the Ferrara Candy Company and its iconic brands including Trolli, Brach’s and Black Forest. These strategic acquisitions are positioning Ferrero to expand beyond its existing chocolate business into the larger Sweet Packaged Food category, where they are the third-largest company in the world.
Today, Ferrero still produces the products its customers love. The organization is now headquartered in Luxembourg and is present in 55 countries worldwide across five different continents. This includes 25 production plants, eight Ferrero Hazelnut Company manufacturing plants and six agricultural companies. These facilities combine for a total headcount of approximately 35,000 employees, mostly based in Europe. With a net turnover of €10.7B, the company is the third-largest chocolate producer in the world and the fastest-growing global player in its industry.
The Vice President Human Resources, International will lead Ferrero’s Human Resources organization throughout an area consisting of the following regions: Central and South America, Mexico & Central America, UK & Ireland and Russia with the other former Soviet Republics.
