Business People: Professional Women’s Group Fetes Gross

GREENWICH, CT, May 11, 2010 — The National Association of Professional and Executive Women has named Sandy Gross, founder and managing partner of Pinetum Partners LLC, as “woman of the year” in executive search and recruiting.

Only one woman from each industry is named “woman of the year,” based on accomplishments, leadership and service. Pinetum Partners is a retained executive search firm specializing in senior level search for hedge funds, investment banks and other securities firms.

At Pinetum Partners, Gross is responsible for placing senior-level investment professionals and executives by partnering with her clients.

She has a master’s degree in business administration from Pepperdine University and a bachelor’s degree from William Smith College. She is a founding co-chairwoman of the 100 Women in Hedge Funds Human Capital Peer Advisory Group.

New Canaan resident Timothy Schwarz has joined Madison Williams and Co., a New York City capital markets and advisory firm, as managing director and head of its Power and Alternative Energy Group.

Schwarz, 49, has more than 15 years of experience in the power and alternative energy sector. Most recently, he was the head of Dresdner Kleinwort’s North American Power and Alternative Energy Group, with a focus on both the regulated and unregulated power sector, as well as the emerging alternative energy sector.

He previously was a managing director in Morgan Stanley’s Global Power and Utility Group. He also was chief financial officer for Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins and was a member of the Bank of Boston’s middle market lending group.

A graduate of Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in economics, he has a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University.

Fairfield University has named Julie Dolan, associate vice president of fiscal affairs at Dartmouth College, as vice president for finance, effective July 1. She will fill the position after William Lucas retires in June after 41 years at the university.

Dolan has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Stanford University and a master’s degree in business administration (management and public policy) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

She previously was director of operations at Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University.

From 1995 to 1999, she was assistant dean of finance in the faculty of arts and sciences at Harvard University, and then as acting associate dean.
