(Sept. 24, 2021) Congratulations to Allison D. Garrett for being named as the next Chancellor of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education. She will be the first woman to hold the position of Chancellor. Buffkin/Baker was chosen after a competitive bid process led by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, and conducted by Martin Baker, Chelsie Whitelock, CDR, and Kimberly Trama.
“Buffkin/Baker was delighted to have the opportunity to partner with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education in this important search,” said Martin Baker. “While there was significant interest from a range of exceptional candidates, Allison Garrett was an outstanding choice for Chancellor. Her diverse background and experience inside and outside of higher education uniquely position her for success in the role. I look forward to following her continuing professional success as she makes the transition to this role later this fall.”
Garrett brings a wealth of experience in higher education and the corporate sector, currently serving as President of Emporia State University (ESU) in Emporia, Kansas. Additionally, she held the positions of vice president and general counsel and vice president of benefits compliance and planning at the Walmart Inc. corporate offices. Garrett also serves as vice-chair of the NCAA Board of Governors and as chair of the NCAA Division II Presidents’ Council.
