DETROIT, MI, May, 2017 — General Motors announced today that Brad Barber, formerly Corporate Vice President, Safety, Health & Environment for Parsons Corporation, has joined the company as Executive Director, Global Workplace Safety. Barber brings to the role a Bachelor’s in Occupational Safety from Murray State University and a Master’s in Industrial Hygiene from Tulane University, as well as certification as a Safety Professional.
At Parsons, Mr. Barber was responsible for a global safety program for 15,000 Parson’s employees and 175,000+ contract employees working on massive construction and engineering programs in 29 countries. Under Mr. Barber’s stewardship, Parson’s is the only global contractor, and one of a handful of companies in the U.S., certified by the Occupational Health & Safety Administration for its Voluntary Protection Program [VPP]. Brad joined Parsons in 1996 and worked in California, Saudi Arabia, and Charlotte. He took one break from Parsons in 2011 to become SVP of Corporate Safety, Health & Environment for CH2M Hill before being recruited back to Parsons.
