Aspen Technology Appoints Former Thermo Fisher Exec David Leitham to SVP & GM

AspenTech is a global leader in asset optimization software helping the world’s leading industrial companies run their operations more safely, efficiently and reliably – enabling innovation while reducing waste and impact on the environment. Leitham will spearhead the effort to grow AspenTech’s digital transformation presence in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.

Leitham is an executive leader with wide-range success generating performance and financial results for $100M+ software organizations. As a global leader of teams reaching 500+ employees, he has a track record of leading challenging organizational and digital transformations, integrating previously siloed product divisions, cultivating team-based and collaborative cultures that lead to game-changing innovation, and elevating struggling products to best-in-class status.

He spent 18 years at Thermo Fisher in multiple leadership roles, and was most recently the Vice President of Chromatography and Mass Spec Software where he led the organizational and digital transformation of three formally siloed software teams to modernize and harmonize an instrument software portfolio that drives over $1B annually in connected sales. Prior to Thermo Fisher, Leitham held executive leadership roles at The Network Connection, Inc. and GlaxoSmithKline. Additionally he spent 6 years on the board of iPRAXIS.

He holds a B.S. in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering and a Masters in Computer Software Engineering from Penn State University.
