When Girls Who Code made the decision to launch in the UK, they chose Leathwaite as their first global community partner. Since then Amy has continued to champion their initiatives, highlighting the need for us all to ‘invest in the next generation of talent’ if we are to truly create a long-term impact on gender diversity and equality within the global workforce.

Amy has since been asked to join schemes such as PwC’s #TechSheCan, due to her increasing reputation for promoting gender equality within the industry and has now been shortlisted for the 2020 Women in Finance Awards for Advocate of the Year, in recognition of these efforts.

Girls Who Code is a non-profit organisation dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology by teaching girls computer science, bravery, and sisterhood and now, for the first time ever, their free programming is available in the UK.

Since 2012, Girls Who Code has reached more than 185,000 girls across the United States. The aim of their programs to empower girls with the confidence, support, network, and technical skills they need to change the world.

The results are striking: Girl Who Code’s college-aged alumni are majoring in computer science and related fields at a rate of 15 times the U.S. national average.

Our purpose is to create meaningful change through a diverse workforce of exceptional people, whilst supporting and developing future leaders. We believe that ambition deserves opportunity which is why we are proud to be a collaborative partner to #TechSheCan. Technology is systemically important to businesses, and we must challenge the status quo in pursuit of best-in-class leaders, teams and performance excellence.

This relationship is a natural extension of our existing Girls Who Code partnership, who have also pledged their support of #TechSheCan. Globally, Leathwaite already supports a number of community, educational and diversity initiatives, and we are truly excited to add #TechSheCan to these partnerships. Amy is a winner at the 2020 Women in Finance Awards, for Advocate of Year. This award highlights women who have gone out of their way to support the cause of getting more female representation in senior levels and stamping out barriers to growth for women in financial services.
