(NEW YORK) – Mogul, Inc., a disruptor in the HR tech and executive recruiting industry, today announced that it has placed Somer Simpson as Vice President of Product at San Francisco-based Amplitude, a pioneer in digital optimization software that reached unicorn status in 2020.
In an industry known for its startling lack of diversity, Amplitude has demonstrated a commitment to diversity by using Mogul’s fully diversified retained search services, a five-step, proprietary methodology that ensures an extensive list of top candidates who vary in terms of race, ethnicity, background, education, lifestyle, ability, and veteran status. Mogul has successfully placed several c-suite leaders in Silicon Valley and many diverse leaders in other industries.
“Mogul’s diversified search team led us to Somer and we are absolutely thrilled that she will be leading product for our new data offering. Her background is exactly what we need,” said Justin Bauer, Chief Product Officer at Amplitude.
Simpson will be a key member of product development leadership at Amplitude and will develop Amplitude’s data management product vision and strategy. She has more than 20 years of experience in executive-level and product leadership roles at Quantcast, Tivamo, Boostit, AT&T Interactive, and Wantsa. She currently serves as a board member at OnRoute22 and IAB Tech Lab.
“The key to closing the gender gap in tech is to have a fully diversified pipeline of candidates for every role at every level, and we applaud Amplitude for recognizing the importance of diversity when conducting a retained search,” said Tiffany Pham, Founder, CEO, and Chairman of the Board at Mogul, “We believe Somer is an exceptional fit for the Product VP role.”
According to a 2022 study by McKinsey, the gender gap for women in technical roles is more pronounced, with only 52 women being promoted to manager for every 100 men.
In addition to offering fully diversified search services, Mogul offers a talent sourcing platform that has disrupted the HR technology industry with patent-pending software filters that allow recruiters to find talent in several ways, including by gender, ethnicity, disability status, and veteran status, without limiting search results. No other talent acquisition platform offers this combination of abilities right now.
“We are always mindful that people of diverse backgrounds — including women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals and beyond — are underrepresented within the tech industry, and we are committed to challenging the norms that exist today and fostering a truly inclusive culture,” said Greg Cooley, Head of Talent Acquisition at Amplitude.
