(March 26, 2025, WEST HARTFORD, CT) Following a national search, Academic Career & Executive Search (ACES), a leading higher education focused executive search firm, is pleased to announce the successful placement of Sharon Butler, securing the role as VP for Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer at Empire State University.

Ms. Butler will be focusing on enhancing recruitment and retention strategies, driving continuous improvement within the HR unit, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment aligned with our contracts, laws, policies, and strategic objectives.

Prior to this role, Sharon served as senior vice president for human resources at Magellan Rx Management, USA, where she designed and executed human capital and talent mobility strategy. Sharon has also held roles in the commercial, non-profit, and public sectors at organizations including the University at Albany, New York State Higher Education Services Corporation, and the American Cancer Society. Sharon earned her bachelor’s degree at Empire State University and her master’s degree in organization and management at Sage Graduate School.
