Academic Career & Executive Search (ACES) Places Library Dean at California State University, Monterey Bay

(June 2023, WEST HARTFORD, CT) Following a national search, Academic Career & Executive Search (ACES), a leading higher education focused executive search firm, announced the successful placement of Vivienne McClendon securing the role as Library Dean at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB).

Vivienne J. McClendon will join CSUMB as the Dean of the Tanimura and Antle Family Memorial Library. She most recently served as the Executive Director of Libraries at the University of Houston Clear Lake, where she created a strategic plan, vision, and mission to align library goals with the university and oversaw a $2.5M renovation of a 46,000 square-foot library space. McClendon has strong experience managing archives and special collections, enhancing learning through technology and active learning spaces, and managing grant funds. Her background in both library and information science and instructional technology will advance the library into a thriving space for student and faculty engagement. She has a bachelor’s of history from the University of Montevallo, a master’s in history from Midwestern State University, a master’s in library and information sciences from the University of South Carolina, and a doctorate in instructional technology from the University of Georgia.
