Academic Career & Executive Search (ACES) Places Dean of the College of Education at California State University, Monterey Bay

(June 2023, WEST HARTFORD, CT) Following a national search, Academic Career & Executive Search (ACES), a leading higher education focused executive search firm, announced the successful placement of Karen Myers-Bowman securing the role as Dean of the College of Education at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB).

Karen Myers-Bowman will join CSUMB as the Dean for the College of Education. Myers-Bowman comes to CSUMB from San Diego State University, where she has served as the Interim Dean of the SDSU Global Campus since October 2021, as a Senior Associate Dean for the College of Education for three years, and as chair of the Department of Child and Family Development. Prior to SDSU, she was on faculty at Kansas State University for 19 years and at North Dakota State University for four years. She brings with her experience in diversifying educational programs to meet both student needs and workforce trends, establishing collaborative relationships with partners, and fostering an inclusive environment. Myers-Bowman has experience working within the CSU system at a university that is designated as both a Hispanic-Serving Institution and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution and has shown a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion that will benefit the university. She has a bachelor’s in psychology from Manchester University and a master’s and a doctorate in child development and family studies from Purdue University.
