Dr. Adler brings a wealth of experience and expertise from the School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she serves as Professor and Associate Member of the Mays Cancer Center. With a PhD in anthropology from Arizona State University, her remarkable career spans across multiple disciplines, including a tenure as Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at The College of New Jersey.
She transitioned into academic nursing after earning credentials as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner during her sabbaticals. Currently dual-certified in Psychiatric Mental Health and Adult Gerontology Primary Care, she has made incredible contributions to psycho-oncology, including founding a nurse practitioner-led mental health clinic for cancer patients at the Mays Cancer Center.
Dr. Adler’s primary goal as Chair is to recruit, retain, and nurture exceptional faculty, supporting their development as scientists to maximize their impact on patients in Arizona and beyond.
