Academic Career & Executive Search (ACES) Places Associate Provost/Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at California State University, Monterey Bay

(June 2023, WEST HARTFORD, CT) Following a national search, Academic Career & Executive Search (ACES), a leading higher education focused executive search firm, announced the successful placement of Cindy Lee Juntunen securing the role as Associate Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB).

Cindy Juntunen will join the CSUMB Office of the Provost as the Associate Provost for Research and Dean of Graduate Studies. She brings with her nearly 30 years of experience in higher education at the University of North Dakota, where she most recently worked as Dean for the College of Education and Human Development. Juntunen has shown a commitment to supporting student and faculty research through her administrative roles, including implementing a faculty development series focused on research and grant writing, increasing external funding by 225% within her college, and she has been a successful principal investigator on multiple federal grants. As a professor, Juntunen devoted time to serving as a doctoral committee chair, a master of arts thesis chair, and an independent study advisor. Her experience working with students will benefit CSUMB as they look to ensure their graduate students have essential research opportunities during their studies. She holds a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of North Dakota, a master’s in pre-counseling psychology from Ball State University, and a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
