Academic Career & Executive Search (ACES) Places Assistant Professor (N-T Track Research) of Psychiatry/Behavioral Science

(August 20, 2026, WEST HARTFORD, CT) Following a national search, Academic Career & Executive Search (ACES), a leading higher education focused executive search firm, is pleased to announce the successful placement of Dr. Connor Haggarty, securing the role as Assistant Professor (N-T Track Research) of Psychiatry/Behavioral Science at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).

Dr. Connor Haggarty has been selected as Assistant Professor of Research for the Center for Addiction Sciences and Therapeutics (CAST), in partnership with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.  Dr. Haggarty earned a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from Liverpool John Moores University and was recently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Wayne State University.  His research involves using pharmacology, neuroimaging and behavioral measures to understand social behavior, to explain social dysfunction and to develop therapeutic models of mental health conditions impacted by social dysfunction and heightened anxiety. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Dr. Haggarty joins a growing, high-impact research enterprise during a period of record extramural funding and major institutional investment in translational science. The Center for Addiction Sciences and Therapeutics is a transdisciplinary hub engaged in basic/clinical/translational sciences, public and population health, industry and community partners toward improved health in vulnerable populations.
