Kim Brettschneider, a senior associate in Witt/Kieffer’s Education practice, supports institutions in identifying diverse and difference-making leaders. She engages in a broad range of searches for public and private colleges and universities, for positions including presidents, provosts, vice presidents and deans. Kim also consults with varied not-for-profit organizations.
Before joining Witt/Kieffer, Kim was a New York principal with a mid-size retained search firm specializing in the non-profit and social service sectors. In this role, Kim conducted leadership searches for not-for-profit and educational organizations. Prior to this, she was the Executive Director of the Children’s Defense Fund’s largest state office in California, where she garnered significant fundraising, policy and program success leading a staff of talented advocates. She also held senior fundraising and management roles with The Wonder of Reading in Los Angeles and Conservation Corps in Long Beach, CA. Kim is the recipient of Senator Bonnie Lowenthal’s Leadership Award, Bergen County Peace, Justice and Dignity Award and was recognized by the New Jersey State Senate and General Assembly for her LGBTQ advocacy leadership.
Additionally, she has served as a board member of several human services agencies. Finally, Kim speaks French as well as some Spanish.
