Thomas G. Estes, Ph.D., served two tenures as Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration at Mercer University in Georgia. He managed budget growth from $70 million to $191 million, endowment growth from $89 million to $172 million, and construction of more than $130 million in new facilities. Prior to his Mercer appointment in 1992, Dr. Estes served for 16 years as Vice President for Business and Finance at the University of Southern Mississippi. He also was a professor of accounting at both universities. Dr. Estes has held leadership positions in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers, serving as that organization’s president in 1994-95. The Mississippi native earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s in accounting from Oklahoma State University, and a Ph.D. in business from the University of Arkansas.
