Russell is a Managing Partner based out of our Hong Kong office. He joined Options Group in 2015 after the merger with Whitney Correlate, a top ranked Asia-Pacific financial services executive search firm, which he co-founded in 2009. Since his entry into executive search in 2007, he quickly became a leader in sellside equities, and was rated the #1 Equities Headhunter in Asia in the last two Asiamoney polls. Russell is also a thought leader, who remains at the forefront of the evolving Equities and Buyside Industries in Asia – and his Asian Equity Daily has a loyal following of thousands of readers. At Options, he is the leader of our Equities and Buyside franchises and regularly places some of the most senior hires in Asia. He remains one of the most dedicated and hardworking people in the industry and with 25 years in the region, has an unparalleled Client and Candidate network. Russell prides himself on his detailed knowledge of both his Clients’ businesses and the wide range of Candidate constituencies across the Equity product and Asia’s geographies.

He is also a dedicated and tenacious but diplomatic closer, who is comfortable across all seniority levels and the myriad cultures for the region. His financial services experience spans equity research, equity sales, corporate finance / M&A, strategic planning and senior management roles. Before search, Russell was most recently the Head of Asian Bank Research for HSBC in Hong Kong, playing a key role in listing China’s major banks. He has 20 years’ experience in Asia, having also worked in Singapore, Thailand, India and Pakistan, with Barings, Kleinwort Benson and HSBC. In addition, from 1999-2003 he was an institutional equity salesman for Dain Rauscher Wessels, selling US tech / biotech to UK institutions.

He was educated at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota (BSB-Acctg) and Manchester Business School’s MBA program (Dip-Bus Admin).
