Dr. Rick Artman is president emeritus of Viterbo University (WI) where he served as president and professor of ethical leadership from 2006-2016. He served as president of Siena Heights University (MI) from 1994-2006. Rick joined Academic Search in 2017 as Senior Search Consultant and transitioned to Senior Executive Coach in 2021.
Rick has a distinguished career in higher education administration, including 22 years as a university president and over 20 years in student affairs administration at the University of Miami (FL) and at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Presently, Rick serves on the Board of Trustees of Felician University. His professional experiences include serving on the board of directors of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU), the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) including service as chair of the Council of Presidents. He served as consultant-evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission for 24 years.
Dr. Artman earned his Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Miami and is a graduate of the Institute of Educational Management of Harvard University. For years he served as a faculty member for the New Presidents Institute of the Council of Independent Colleges on the topic of institutional advancement. Rick has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels throughout his career.
Rick brings to the coaching team extensive experience in higher education and governance of independent colleges and universities, especially Catholic and other faith-based colleges and universities. He has a passion for servant leadership and assisting in the success of newly appointed presidents.
