Omar Bell


Omar Bell brings Lindauer and our clients more than 20 years’ experience in a range of U.S. and global nonprofit contexts. His organizational expertise includes top private and public institutions of higher education, leading K-12 independent schools, and mission-based programs in the athletic, museum, science, and youth-related arenas.

Prior to joining Lindauer, Omar oversaw all advancement efforts for Morehead Planetarium and Science Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, completing the center’s campaign as part of UNC’s $4.25 Billion “For All Kind” campaign. This included working with Morehead’s Advisory Committee; managing major, individual, foundation and corporate giving; overseeing the events team; and serving on the planetarium’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Before joining Morehead, Omar was in the Washington D.C. and Virginia area engaged in middle school, diversity, and athletics initiatives at Potomac School; in individual giving for the renowned all-boys’ St. Alban’s School and its $50 million STRIVE! Campaign; and serving as Associate Director of Development at The George Washington University. He built regional alumni and fundraising efforts for GW in Houston, Atlanta, New York, Denver, and San Francisco and provided interim leadership of all athletics fundraising for GW’s NCAA Division I Programs with 25 varsity sports. Omar’s early career included coaching at the high school, college, and professional level, including as head coach for professional basketball in Ensdorf, Germany, as well as national marketing work for Sara Lee/Hanes Corporation.

Omar’s nonprofit board service includes current roles with the Chapel Hill YMCA, the Synod Council for the North Carolina Lutheran Church, and former roles with Male Survivor, Center for Alexandria’s Children, and the Lutheran Youth Organization. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lenoir-Rhyne University.
