John E. Trainer, Ph.D., Consultant, has a long and distinguished tenure as President and Head of School of The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. In its August 2009 issue, Jacksonville Magazine’s 904 named him to its annual listing of the city’s “50 Most Influential People,” citing Dr. Trainer’s outstanding leadership at the independent school and in the community, He has an extensive background in independent education. Prior to his appointment at Bolles, he served seven years as President of the Georgia Foundation of Independent Colleges. From 1984 to 1994, he was President of Lenior-Rhyne College in North Carolina, a faith-based, independent college of 1,600 students. During Dr. Trainer’s presidential tenure, the Council of Independent Universities recognized the college as an exemplary academic work place. With a bachelor’s degree in biology from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he earned a master’s degree in biology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a doctorate in zoology from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
