Georgia Yuan joined AGB Search in 2013 and brings over 20 years in higher education to her work as an executive search consultant. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Yuan served as Deputy Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education where she managed the higher education policy teams.

Ms. Yuan’s deep understanding of colleges and universities is grounded in her work as general counsel to Smith College, 2003-2010, where she was secretary of the corporation and worked directly with the Board of Trustees, and to the University of Idaho, 1991-2003. Institutions of higher education find that her guidance and management of the search process produces strong pools of candidates who succeed in their positions. She brings the ear of an executive coach to the search process, having been trained as a leadership coach at the Georgetown University Institute for Transformational Leadership. Her work with candidates is enhanced by her coaching skills.
When conducting presidential searches, Ms. Yuan brings her considerable knowledge of governance and transition planning to the process. She works effectively with search committees and trustees to ensure the smooth transition for a new president and transfers this knowledge to the transition work needed for all leadership positions in higher education.
Ms. Yuan has served as the Chair of the Board of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and has received the Distinguished Service Award and the Lifetime Member Award from the Association. She was awarded the University of Idaho College of Law Faculty Award of Legal Merit in 2014, recognizing a career exemplifying the best in the legal profession based on demonstrated standards of integrity, competence, service and leadership through work as a legal practitioner, and service to business, state or national interests.
A consistent supporter of developing new leaders for higher education, Ms. Yuan has been invited to speak and teach at the Higher Education Resource Services Inc. (HERS) Leadership Training Institutes for Women, the Iowa Women in Higher Education Leadership Conference, the ACE Advancing to the Presidency workshop, and the Aspiring to the Presidency Leadership Program hosted by St. Anselm College.
Ms. Yuan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology from Oberlin College (OH), her Masters Degree in Applied Earth Science from Stanford University (CA), and her J.D. from the University of Idaho.
