Alastair Paton

Alastair has had two distinct phases to his career to date, having spent 16 years in senior roles within two major blue-chip multinational businesses before entering Executive Search in 2001. He has lived on three continents and travelled to more than 40 countries.

For his clients, Alastair brings a deep understanding of the industries he worked in coupled with a belief in the power of great leaders to make extraordinary differences to the businesses they run. He is passionate about balancing experience and competencies with cultural and attitudinal fit to give the most diverse shortlists possible for clients.

Prior to joining August Leadership, Alastair was UK Managing Partner and Global Chair of one of the oldest international executive search networks, where he had also previously led the Global Consumer Practice.

Before entering executive search, Alastair held senior roles in general management, marketing and sales at Unilever and Novartis in Europe, the Middle East and North America. As well as working with household brand names, in both businesses Alastair launched successful ventures into new markets.

Alastair is married with four children and is a member of the Governing Board of a local community school. Away from work, he was an enthusiastic runner, completing five marathons, and is now a passionate road cyclist, and completed a mountain stage of the Tour de France in 2017.
