Alan is a Managing Partner based in the New York office and co-manages the IT/Quant practice. He works on some of the most senior and complex roles within the financial technology space, having placed numerous CIOs and other senior level-technologists within the US. Alan brings a unique perspective to executive search by leveraging his 15 years’ experience within Technology, Analytics & Structured Finance at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette and Salomon Brothers. This past experience, combined with his 12-plus years in search, affords him the ability to quickly understand the underlying challenges an organization faces and what types of leadership qualities and other skills will be keys to success.

For several years, Alan has focused heavily on the buy-side and has been instrumental in assisting and advising various firms in building out their information technology teams. He also identified Information Security as a potential growth area and has been building up that practice at Options Group.

From 1989 to 1999, Alan worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette holding various roles in areas including development, analytics, CMO/ABS modeling, CMO/ABS structuring, CMO derivative trading, and then finally managing the Fixed Income Analytics Group. Alan was a Senior Vice President, managing a team of 30 Technologists and Quants, when he left DLJ. Prior to his experience at DLJ, Alan was a Technologist at Salomon Brothers. Between 1999 and 2001, Alan devoted his efforts to working at and advising various Internet start-ups. In 2001, Alan moved into the recruiting industry and founded RSW Executive Search in 2002 – a boutique executive search firm focused on placing Technology, Quants, Researchers, Traders & Structurers within the Mortgage/Structured Products vertical.

Alan holds an MBA in Finance from Stern at New York University and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from SUNY Buffalo.
