Prodigy Search Recruits Chief Communications Officer of the Major League Baseball Players Association
December 17, 2024 – Prodigy Search, a boutique recruiting firm serving the talent needs of media, sports, and entertainment organizations, has placed Oriana Korin as the new chief communications officer of the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA). She will lead the association’s strategic communications efforts, ensuring alignment with its mission to advance the rights and interests of players through collective bargaining and representation. “Ori’s appointment as chief communications officer represents an exciting step forward for the MLBPA that will build upon the incredible work our communications team has done to date,” said Tony Clark, executive director. “She brings a wealth of experience and passion that will strengthen our ability to advocate for players, enhance engagement with key stakeholders, and ensure our communications align with the MLBPA’s long-term strategic goals.”

With over 20 years of experience in strategic communications, labor advocacy, and organizational management, Ms. Korin brings a track record of championing workers’ rights and driving impactful messaging. She has previously served as senior director of communications for the American Federation of Teachers, communications director at the Transport Workers Union, press secretary and manager of external affairs for Jobs with Justice, and Communications Associate at Change to Win. Her background includes crafting messaging for high-profile campaigns, managing crisis communications, fostering relationships across diverse audiences as well as political, campaign, and legislative experience.
In this newly created role, Ms. Korin will oversee the MLBPA’s comprehensive communications strategy, encompassing internal communications, player engagement, media relations, and content development. She will also play a vital role in advancing the MLBPA’s public presence and advocacy initiatives.
The Major League Baseball Players Association is the union that represents players on the 40-man rosters of the 30 Major League baseball teams and oversees MLB Players Inc., which exclusively represents the group commercial and licensing activities involving active players.

In 2022, the MLBPA used Prodigy Search to recruit Carlos Barron as director of security. In this role, Mr. Barron plans, directs, and coordinates programs relating to the protection, safeguarding, and security of company assets, employees, players, and invitees. He most recently served as director of security and transportation for the Houston Dynamo/Houston Dash/BBVA Stadium. Mr. Barron is also the founder of Salus Security Services.
