Spencer Stuart to Lead CEO Search for Clorox

August 24, 2011 – Executive search firm Spencer Stuart has been selected by consumer products giant The Clorox Company to recruit a new chief executive officer. Carl C. Icahn, the largest shareholder of Clorox, recently offered a $10.7 billion takeover bid for the company; when he was rebuffed he proposed dumping the entire board of directors and replacing it with his own candidates. Clorox has said that was simply a move to advance his own agenda. “We’re not opposed to a sale, only a steal,” Donald R. Knauss, Clorox’s chief executive, said. Spencer Stuart is an executive search firm with 51 offices in 27 countries.
