Pi Executive Recruits Marketing Head for BIC

December 9, 2016 – Talent advisory firm Pi Executive has recruited Ross Ullman as head of marketing North America for BIC. The search was conducted by partner and board member Pierre Trippitelli and assisted by director Katherine MacLane.

Mr. Ullman brings with him over 18 years of experience growing billion dollar brands and smaller brand portfolios across a variety of over-the-counter, consumer packed goods, and FMCG industries. He is a broad strategic thinker known for delivering game-changing vision, compelling strategies, step-change innovation, and transformational top and bottom line results.

The appointment comes as the company looks to build upon its iconic and global BIC brand name across the North American market which represent a significant portion of its revenue base. With an important digital transformation ahead, BIC is now poised to have an inspiring leader, mentor and coach who is known to get the best out of teams and people.

Mr. Ullman joined the company from Boehringer Ingelheim, where he was leading the marketing efforts for its consumer healthcare division. He oversaw the development of the Zantac and Dulcolax brand visions as part of a remit that includes annual planning, advertising and media development, brand innovation strategies and new product development.

Prior to this role, Mr. Ullman spent 14 years at Reckitt Benckiser, mainly as marketing director for its $850 million Lysol franchise. During his time with the company, he spearheaded Reckitt Benckiser’s first ever social marketing brand platform, leveraging Facebook, bloggers and targeted community social sites to strengthen consumer engagement and sales.

Perpetual Insights

Consumer brand recruitment firm Perpetual Insights launched its executive search and human resources consulting arm, Pi Executive, earlier this year. Mr. Trippitelli joined the firm to lead the new division. Previously, he served as a member of the global consumer practice at Korn Ferry.

Mr. Trippitelli’s recent searches include finding a global CEO for a food retail company; a global CEO for a food ingredients company; a president and CEO for a North America food ingredients company; a CEO for a dairy company; a COO for a U.S. confectionery company; a CMO for a global beverage company; head of operations & supply chain for a global beverage company; and a CFO for a global skincare concern.

Just recently, Mr. Trippitelli placed Angelique Bellmer Krembs as chief marketing officer of News America Marketing (NAM), a marketer and influencer for online and offline shoppers in the U.S. and Canada.
