Pi Executive Recruits CMO for News America Marketing

July 1, 2016 – Talent advisory firm Pi Executive has recruited Angelique Bellmer Krembs as chief marketing officer of News America Marketing (NAM), a marketer and influencer for online and offline shoppers in the U.S. and Canada. The search was conducted by partner and board member Pierre Trippitelli and assisted by senior consultant Kimberly Bertuglia.

Ms. Bellmer Krembs brings with her 22 years of expertise from PepsiCo, where she was known for leading iconic brands, including Pepsi, Mountain Dew and SoBe. The appointment comes as News America Marketing looks to build upon its legacy of impactful in-store and at-home media and marketing products, including SmartSource Magazine, and chart the future path of shopper influence.

During her 22-year tenure with PepsiCo, Ms. Bellmer Krembs held a variety of positions across the marketing department. In her most recent role as VP marketing activation, she used insights-led brand building and portfolio marketing to leverage national strategies while tailoring them appropriately to the local level in order to maximize their impact. Prior to this role, she was VP of marketing for Trademark Pepsi, where she led the marketing strategy, campaigns, retail programs and product innovations for the Pepsi-Cola brands. In 2009 she led the relaunch of SoBe, including product and package innovation across the platform, resulting in SoBe becoming one of the fastest growing beverage brands in the portfolio.

As CMO, she will be responsible for providing thought leadership and strategic marketing guidance for the organization overall, in addition to leading the insights, innovation and creative services teams.

“Angelique understands the multiplicity and complexity of challenges that face today’s CPG marketers,” said Marty Garofalo, chief executive officer of News America Marketing.

“This is a dramatic time in the shifting shopper landscape,” said Ms. Bellmer Krembs. “Lots of change means lots of opportunity, and I’m very excited to join a world-class organization on the front lines of that change.”

As business becomes more global and complex, and power shifts from producers of goods and services to consumers, a chief marketing officer’s (CMO) responsibility of planning and coordinating an organization’s marketing activities has become much more challenging, according to recruiters specializing in the function.

Consumer brand recruitment firm Perpetual Insights launched its executive search and human resources consulting arm, Pi Executive, earlier this year. Mr. Trippitelli joined the firm to lead the new division. Previously, he served as a member of the global consumer practice at Korn Ferry.

Mr. Trippitelli’s recent searches include finding a global CEO for a food retail company; a global CEO for a food ingredients company; a president and CEO for a North America food ingredients company; a CEO for a dairy company; a COO for a U.S. confectionery company; a CMO for a global beverage company; head of operations & supply chain for a global beverage company; and a CFO for a global skincare concern.

Through the expertise, capabilities, and insights of Pi Executive, Perpetual Insights now offers clients a full range of executive talent advisory services, helping them attract, retain, assess, and coach their human capital. The firm’s focus spans across the luxury, health & beauty, food & beverage and consumer durable industries.
