Leathwaite Presents the Results of the Bi-Annual Benchmark Survey at the 2016 Institutional Investor Legal Forum

LONDON, May 10, 2016 — Leathwaite Director, Huw Jones and Senior Consultant, Peter Johnson, delivered the opening presentation at this year’s exclusive member-only event attended by General Counsel of asset management firms, based in EMEA, Americas and Asia-Pac.

The core objective of the bi-annual Benchmark Survey is to provide accurate data on how member’s firms are structuring, staffing and managing their legal, compliance, risk and regulatory/government affairs functions.

The presentation highlighted key trends and allowed members to accurately compare structures, staffing levels and expenses of in-house legal departments, as well as the use and costs of outside counsel.

It examined key changes, current areas of focus and which regulations are having most impact on firms.

The session incorporated a discussion focusing on the biggest management challenges members are currently facing and anticipate facing, what was working (and what was not) within the structure of their legal departments, what might be considered as optimal levels of staff and expense, plus how to accurately measure performance and productivity of both in-house staff and outside counsel.
