Hanold Associates Recruits CHRO for NYC Outward Bound

August 6, 2015 – Executive search firm Hanold Associates has recruited Juan Taveras as chief human resources officer (CHRO) for NYC Outward Bound Schools. He will report to Outward Bound president Richard Stopol and will serve as a member of the executive team.

In his new position, Mr. Taveras will be the human resource strategy leader responsible for developing and executing high-impact approaches to attract, retain, support and develop a talented and diverse pool of qualified, committed and enthusiastic individuals to work at NYC Outward Bound Schools.

Mr. Tavares was previously the founding director of human resources at Ascend Learning Network in Brooklyn where he established the HR department bringing effectiveness, efficiency and HR best practices to over 400 employees in the network. Prior to that, he served as director of operations at Bushwick Ascend Charter School where he was responsible for all non-academic operations.

Speaking on the appointment, Mr. Stopol said: “Juan is someone who has the specific skills and experience that the position demands and who also embraces our core organizational values — high achievement for all, community, and character.”

NYC Outward Bound Schools is a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to bringing Outward Bound’s approach to teaching and learning to the young people of New York City and their public schools. Founded in 1987, NYC Outward Bound Schools has served over 60,000 students, teachers, administrators and parents from over 300 schools and other youth-serving organizations throughout the New York City area.

Hanold Associates recently recruited top CHRO’s for outdoor apparel company Patagonia, CPI Card Group and Friedman Operating Group.
