DHR International Completes Search for Shedd Aquarium

CHICAGO, IL, May 16, 2017  Global Executive Search firm DHR International is pleased to announce the successful placement of Gina Rodriguez as the Chief Development Officer of the Shedd Aquarium. Rodriguez will begin the position June 5. The search was completed by Managing Partner of the North American Nonprofit Practice, Mary Lee Montague.

The Chief Development Officer role is a new key position within the organization where Rodriguez will oversee development programs and staff focused on building and expanding vital funding from individuals, foundations, corporations and government sources that allows the aquarium to advance its efforts.

Prior to joining Shedd Aquarium, Rodriguez served as Chief Advancement Officer for seven years at the Francis W. Parker School in Chicago where she oversaw strategy for the completion of the school’s multimillion-dollar capital and endowment campaign. Previously Rodriguez held the positions of Annual Corporate and Foundation Gifts Officer at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, Director of Institutional Advancement at the Ancona School in Chicago, and as Membership Officer for the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.

“At a time in the world when it has never been more important for people to learn, explore, and build connections with animals and nature, I’m thrilled to welcome Gina to our talented executive team to strategically lead the philanthropic endeavors that support Shedd’s mission-based programs,” said President and CEO Dr. Bridget Coughlin.

The Shedd Aquarium, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to public education and conservation, is known as “The World’s Aquarium.” Home to 32,000 animals representing more than 1,500 species of fishes, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, birds and mammals from waters around the world, Shedd Aquarium is supported by the people of Chicago, the State of Illinois and the Chicago Park District.
