Baltimore, Indianapolis, Miami and San Diego Show Hiring Losses

November 27, 2012 – The CareerCast.com/JobSerf Employment Index, which measures managerial recruitment activity online, lost 8.1 points in November, dropping to 100.3, which is 3.2 points below November 2011, and 5.6 below a year ago. Baltimore was the biggest loser in November, with a decrease of 13 percent over last month. In other disappointing news, Indianapolis lost 8%, Miami dropped six percent, and San Diego is down five percent. On the bright side, two percent gains were seen in Phoenix, Cleveland, Nashville and St. Louis. “After unexpected positive hiring gains in recent months, including in October, the downturn in November is disappointing,” said JobSerf CEO Jay Martin. “Usually November’s Index number is higher than October’s, so we are concerned that overall hiring could be starting to slow down.”
